These interiors draw the mental universe of those who are on the road: their traditions, their aspirations, their personalities. They are no longer simply migrants, but merchants, young adults barely out of childhood, or mystical artists. Before the photographer’s lens, the “migrants” or “refugees” – generic terms that make us lose sight of their identity – are no longer silhouettes walking in the mud among the tents, but faces that look back at us... Above all, these shots convey the astonishing capacity of humans, whether nomadic or sedentary, to inhabit the place where they live, even for a short time, even a hut or a tent in Calais.
