These interiors sketch the mental universe of those who are on the road: their traditions, their aspirations, their personalities. They are no longer simply migrants, but merchants, young adults barely out of childhood or mystical artists. In front of the photographer's lens, the “migrants” or “refugees” – generic terms that make us lose sight of their identity – are no longer silhouettes walking in the mud amid the tents, but faces looking at us... Above all, these shots speak of the astonishing capacity of humans, whether nomadic or sedentary, to inhabit the place where they live, even for a short time, even a shack or a tent, from Calais.
