Bust, Raro busto di Ludwig van Beethoven firmato F

Intense period sculpture depicting the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven, created in 1942 as indicated by the dating incised at the side of the neck. Just below the work lies the signature of the author F. Tersigny, carved by hand directly on the surface. The bust effectively captures the classical iconography of the maestro: the absorbed, deep gaze, the pronounced brow ridges, and the thick, windswept hair lend the face an intense dramatic and expressive charge, typical of the sculptural taste and the expressionist influence of the interwar period. From a material standpoint, it is a plaster model enriched by a multicolored superficial patina with an original terracotta-like effect. The work measures a total height of 58 cm and a width of 27 cm including the base, while the head portion alone has a height of 43 cm and a width of 27 cm, dimensions that give it a highly impactful decorative stage presence. The object presents in generally good conservational condition compatible with its age. The original patina is well preserved and shows physiological signs of time, including slight wear and superficial chips along the edges of the base that reveal the white plaster underneath, confirming the material’s nature and attesting to the piece’s authenticity without altering its aesthetic rendering.
