Alle Auktionen / Möbel, Design und Spiegel / Cabinet - Wood, Glass - Inlaid, early 20th century
Low coffee table for the living room with a drawer, dateable to the early twentieth century (circa the 1910s–1920s) and linked to the eclectic and revival taste of the era. The piece stands 54 cm tall, designed to function as a central room surface or a sofa-side table. The frame is supported by four sinuous, shaped legs inspired by the eighteenth century. The front features a central drawer decorated with a refined geometric inlay in concentric rhomboid motifs (lozenge lattice), exploiting the different grain to create a three-dimensional effect; in the center is a circular metal knob. The top surface is covered by a dark glass slab laid on, shaped to follow the moulded edge profile. This detail, typical of early-century furniture, combines a protective function with a modern, glossy aesthetic that elegantly contrasts with the warm tones of the wood.
