Information about the original brooch. While shopping with her sister in London in June of 1961, Jackie spotted a sunburst pin in an antique shop, instantly fell in love with it and purchased it. It represented the symbol of King Louis XIV of France, the Sun King. On a side note, this was also Jackie's favorite historical era. Jackie thoroughly enjoyed her Sunburst Brooch and wore it constantly---on the shoulders of overcoats, on jackets, on dresses, and even in her hair.
