Candleholder (2) - Gilt bronze - Napoleon III candlesticks

Pair of antique candlesticks from France made of gilded bronze, with black natural stone columns. Dating from the heyday of the Napoleon III style (1860–1880). The candlesticks are made of fire-gilded bronze with a central column of black natural stone (marble). The candlesticks are richly decorated with graceful ornaments on the base and the candle holder. The base of the candlesticks is filled with classical and mythological imagery. At the corners of the three-part base are bearded heads of satyrs visible, mythological beings symbolizing wild nature, passion and fertility. The female heads are presumably nymphs, intended to convey elegance and luxury. The candlesticks are about 30 cm tall and at the bottom of the base up to 13 cm wide. The weight is about 1100 grams per candlestick. The candlesticks are in good, used condition. For a good impression, view the photos.
