Candleholder (2) - Metal, Glass

A beautiful and highly collectible pair of modernist candlesticks, attributed to the famous Swedish designer Gunnar Ander for Ystad-Metall in the 1960s. This set consists of two different sizes, which creates a striking architectural dynamic when placed together. The pieces are expertly crafted from black forged iron ("smide") with a twisted stem and iconic tripod bases. They are beautifully adorned with vivid emerald-green glass medallions that brilliantly catch the light. The glass was produced by the renowned Swedish glass factory Lindshammar. Characteristic of this particular wrought-iron series from Ystad-Metall, these pieces carry no physical stamp. They were originally marked only with paper/foil labels that have worn away over the decades. The design and craftsmanship are 100% attributable to Gunnar Ander and his well-documented design classics. Dimensions (approximately): • Large candlestick: 54 cm tall • Small candlestick: 24 cm tall Condition: In good vintage condition with light signs of aging and wear commensurate with age.
