CARL UNGER — WATERCOLORS AND DRAWINGS - Lot 57

CARL UNGER — WATERCOLORS AND DRAWINGS SOTRIFFER (Kristian). Carl Unger. Watercolors and Drawings. Munich, Prestel-Verlag, [n.d.]. Large quarto, publisher’s hardcover with a color-illustrated dust jacket. Numerous reproductions, mainly in color, several of which are full-page. A monograph by Kristian Sotriffer devoted to the watercolors and drawings of Carl Unger, an Austrian painter associated with the postwar Vienna School. The book particularly highlights his landscapes and compositions, in which natural motifs are gradually transformed into colorful, rhythmic patterns. A beautiful publication by Prestel devoted more specifically to the artist’s works on paper. The dust jacket shows some scuffing, soiling, and small tears at the top and bottom edges and corners; the book itself is in good condition.
