CARTOON — THE COUNT OF CHAMBORD VERNIER (Charles). TAKE MY BEAR. Paris, A. Mordret, publisher, 8 rue Poulet, [1871], No. 14. Colored lithograph depicting the Count of Chambord, the Legitimist pretender to the French throne, attempting to seduce a young woman personifying France. Caption, “Well-known tune”: “Mr. de CHAMBORD: — Will you? — Will you? — Will you accept my arm!… And France—did not reply!…” An amusing satire on plans for a monarchical restoration following the fall of the Second Empire. Condition: generally good; paper slightly yellowed, with a few foxing spots and minor wear along the edges.
