Casket - Cast iron

Antique money chest / document chest with key | circa late 19th – early 20th century Remarkable antique wooden money chest or document box with a working lock and accompanying key. The chest is finished in a dark green color and features decorative ornaments on the front, including a beautiful relief with a portrait of a woman. The chest has a sturdy construction with heavy hinges across the full width of the lid, wrought iron carrying handles on the sides, and an original locking mechanism. Thanks to its solid construction, this type of chest was often used for storing valuable papers, administrative documents, cash, or other valuable belongings. The interior is simple and functional. The chest still has the original key, a detail that is often missing in objects of this kind. The chest has a lovely weathered appearance with signs of use appropriate to its age. This contributes to the authentic character of the object. Dimensions: Width: ca. 50 cm Depth: ca. 32 cm Height: ca. 33 cm Condition: Good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging. Wear to paintwork and fittings appropriate for age and use. See photos for a full impression of the condition. Special features: Including original key Working lock Decorative front hardware Wrought iron handles Authentic patina Beautiful decorative object for interior, man cave, shop fittings, or antique collection A characterful chest with presence and history, suitable as a collectible or decorative interior piece. I have another chest for sale in the same style but in a different size. See my other listings
