Castelli - Giancarlo Piretti - Folding chair (9) - Plia chair - Steel

The Plia Chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1967, is an iconic design that, with its transparency and folding mechanism, defined democratic Italian design. Thanks to the ingenious “three‑disk pivot” system, the chair folds in seconds to just a few centimeters thick and can be stored out of sight. The combination of a chromed steel frame and a seat made of clear or colored plastic gives the chair a light and sculptural look. With millions of units sold worldwide, a place in MoMA and several design awards, Plia remains a timeless icon in modern interior and industrial design. This set of 9 authentic Plia chairs is a unique collection with different colors and varying condition. They are all still usable. They show some signs of use such as scratches, some light spots of rust on a few, some miss caps on the legs, a couple have a small crack in the Plexiglas. Nice signs of use and patina, which also give them character and an authentic look! There are two pink, three brown, and four light-green ones. Here you don’t have to be conservative about them anymore but you can enjoy them, take them camping or to the beach. New, they’re still for sale, which would cost around 375 euros each!
