CÉSAIRE OF ARLES (Saint). Sancti Caesarii Episcopi Arelatensis Homiliae XIV. Paris, François Muguet, 1669. In-8, red morocco leather, triple gilt rule, fleurons at the corners, coat of arms in the center, decorated spine, inner roulette, gilt edges (contemporary binding). Edition published by Étienne Baluze, scholar and librarian to Colbert. Through his homilies, Saint Caesarius of Arles Christianized and civilized part of Europe in the 5th century. A morocco-bound copy bearing the coat of arms of François de Harlay de Chanvallon (1625–1695), Archbishop of Paris and Peer of France. Slight water stain in the margins of the first section. Minor scuffing on the binding; stains on the covers.
