Alle Auktionen / Silber & Gold / Chester hallmarked Silver 1907 - Salt boat - Salt Cellar...
An elegant antique English salt cellar dating to 1907, featuring a beautifully cut crystal body and a decorative sterling silver mount, assayed in Chester. This attractive piece combines the brilliance and clarity of finely cut crystal with the craftsmanship of an Edwardian silver mounting. The crystal displays crisp geometric cutting, creating an attractive interplay of light and reflection, while the silver rim provides a refined contrast and a distinctive period appearance. The underside of the silver rim bears a series of British hallmarks, including the Chester town mark, the lion passant denoting sterling silver, the 1907 date letter, and the maker’s mark B&T. The maker represented by the initials B&T has not been conclusively identified. The piece is an appealing example of early 20th-century English silver-mounted glassware, suitable for collectors of antique British silver, Edwardian decorative objects and cut crystal.
