Chimneypiece - Stile Barocco - 20th century - fireplace mantel

Monumental Mantelpiece for a Monolithic Marble Fireplace – Baroque Style with Putti and Festoons Up for auction is a monumental and sumptuous white marble fireplace carved from a single monolithic block. The piece is characterized by an extremely rich and elaborate high-relief sculptural work, fully three-dimensional. It stands out for its scenographic design clearly inspired by Baroque aesthetics, making it an ideal centerpiece of the highest quality for reception rooms, historic villas, or exclusive interior design projects. Description and Artistic Details The structure is entirely animated by a dense sculptural composition of extraordinary plasticity: • Monolithic Work: The fireplace is not made of assembled slabs, but is carved from a single block of marble, a construction detail of great value and rarity that testifies to a very high level of artisanal mastery. • The Side Putti (Vertical Supports): Comprised of full-figure cherubs in dynamic poses, seemingly supporting the entablature. The bodies are finished with great attention to anatomical details, facial features, and curly hair. • The Frieze (Pediment): Features rich symmetric decoration with fruit garlands (bunches of grapes), broad acanthus leaves, and botanical motifs. At the center of the mantling stand pairs of finely sculpted little birds, symbolizing harmony and nature. • Material: Fine-grained precious white marble, which over time has developed a beautiful natural patina. Complete Dimensions • Total length (top shelf): 154 cm • Overall height: 102 cm • Shelf depth: 31 cm • Inner opening dimensions (central hole): 60 cm x 60 cm Condition The object is in good condition with signs of wear and aging consistent with its era and storage. • Patina: Shows surface dirt residue and natural biological patina due to outdoor exposure, which adds an antique and authentic charm.
