Inviting Pre-Boxer "Dragon" Dollar from Pei Yang CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), Year 24 (1898). Tientsin (East Arsenal) Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, Unc Details. L&M-449; K-191; KM-Y-65.2; WS-0617. Variety with "dotted-eyed" dragon (eyes incuse with raised central dots). Displaying only a light degree of cleaning, which accounts for the overall designation, this otherwise uncirculated specimen emanates from a very pivotal and chaotic period, being struck just before the Boxer Rebellion. A great example of this particular dragon type, differing from that with solid raised eyes and that with so-called "spectacles," whereby the eyes are incuse only without the raised central dots. Estimate: $10,000 - $15,000. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
