Antique Chinese rug – Aubusson floral style – 1950-1960 – 257 × 164 cm We present an elegant antique Chinese rug, made between 1950-1960, with a refined floral Aubusson-inspired design. The rug is crafted using an ancient manual tufting technique, in which the wool tufts are worked by hand on a cotton base. On the reverse, the structure is stabilized with a traditional fixing compound that keeps the tufts in place, and finally protected by a textile lining. The pile is worked and trimmed by hand, creating the beautiful relief characteristic of this type of rug. It features a very elegant decoration, with a large central floral medallion and numerous floral and leaf motifs, combined in soft tones of green, beige, pink and brown.
