Alle Auktionen / Münzen & Banknoten / CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, Year 18 (1929). Hangchow Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-62.
Enchanting Osaka-Designed Dollar Pattern CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, Year 18 (1929). Hangchow Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-62. L&M-93; K-618; KM-Pn102; WS-0137; Chang-CH198; Wenchao-908 (rarity: ★★). Japanese design from Osaka Mint dies. Exceptionally attractive and engaging, this concept for the Sun Yat-sen "junk" Dollar--from dies provided by the Osaka Mint--displays an engaging mix of steely gray and burnished amber, all while lustrous vibrance glistens throughout. Of note for this type, Kann, wanting to obtain official mint details, mentions that he "...wrote to the Director of the Osaka Mint" and that he "...received a prompt and very sweet reply, which culminated in the assertion that the Japanese mint knows nothing about such an essay coin and has no records regarding the same. Yet, the author stands by his grouping and feels certain that 618 is a Japan-made model." Estimate: $35,000 - $50,000. Provenance: From the Liu Mung Wang (汪柳門) Collection.
