Chopard Mille Miglia Chronograph 8331 – 38.5 mm – automatic – black dial – tachymeter – stainless steel bracelet This Chopard Mille Miglia reference 8331 is a sporty automatic chronograph from the well-known Mille Miglia line. The watch combines a polished stainless steel case with a contrasting black dial, three chronograph subdials, date display and a tachymeter scale. The red Mille Miglia accents reference the historic Italian 1000 Miglia rally. The watch is fitted with a stainless steel Chopard bracelet and has a transparent case back, allowing the automatic movement to be seen. ────────────────── Basic information Brand: Chopard Collection: Mille Miglia Reference: 8331 Type: gentleman’s watch / sports chronograph Movement: automatic mechanical Functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, date and chronograph Case material: stainless steel Diameter: 38.5 mm Dial: black Glass: sapphire crystal Bracelet: stainless steel Clasp: Chopard-signed clasp Back: transparent case back Movement frequency: 28,800 A/h ────────────────── Important details The Mille Miglia 8331 has the characteristic motorsport aesthetic for which this Chopard collection is known. Notable features are: Black dial with large white Arabic numerals Three contrasting chronograph subdials Red “1000 MIGLIA” emblem Tachymeter scale around the outer edge Date window between 4 and 5 o’clock Central chronograph seconds hand with a red tip Large luminescent hour and minute hands Automatic chronograph movement Transparent case back Stainless steel Chopard bracelet ────────────────── Estimated year of manufacture Estimated year: around late 1990s to early 2000s. Reference 8331 belongs to an earlier generation of the Chopard Mille Miglia chronographs. Without accompanying dated documentation, an exact production year cannot be determined. ────────────────── Case The round case is made of stainless steel and measures 38.5 mm in diameter. The case has a predominantly polished finish, with rounded case shapes and relatively short, robust lugs. The combination of size and classic proportions gives the watch a clearly more compact look than many modern sport chronographs. On the right side are the crown and two separate chronograph pushers. The crown is Chopard-signed. The case shows normal light wear and fine hairlines, appropriate for a worn watch. There are no conspicuous heavy damages visible. ────────────────── Dial The black dial provides a strong contrast with the large white Arabic hour markers and the silver-toned subdial surrounds. At 12 o’clock are: Chopard GENEVE AUTOMATIC The layout consists of three registers: At 9 o’clock is the 30-minute chronograph counter. At 3 o’clock is the small seconds. This counter is equipped with the characteristic red “1000 MIGLIA” logo. At 6 o’clock is the 12-hour chronograph counter. Between 4 and 5 o’clock is the date window. Around the outer edge of the dial runs a tachymeter scale in km/h. This allows, in combination with the chronograph, to theoretically calculate the average speed over a known distance. The central chronograph second hand is white and has a red tip at 12 o’clock. The black dial, white numerals, silver subdial rings and red details give this execution a pronounced motorsport character. ────────────────── Chronograph The watch features a mechanical chronograph function. The upper pusher starts and stops the chronograph. The lower pusher resets the chronograph hands. Elapsed time can be read via the central chronograph second hand, the 30-minute counter and the 12-hour counter. ────────────────── Movement The watch is equipped with an automatic mechanical chronograph movement. Type: automatic Function: chronograph with date Frequency: 28,800 vph Central chronograph second 30-minute counter 12-hour counter Small seconds Date display Via the transparent case back the movement is visible. The rotor features striped decoration and the gold-tone inscriptions “Chopard Genève.” Also various decorative finishes of the movement are visible through the back. ────────────────── Timegrapher measurement Measured daily rate deviation: +0 seconds/day Amplitude: 307° Beat error: 0.1 ms Lift angle: 52.0° Frequency: 28,800 A/h This measurement shows a very small rate deviation and beat error at the moment of measurement. The amplitude is also strong. A timegrapher measurement is always a snapshot in a single position and does not constitute a guarantee of daily accuracy or future technical condition of the movement. ────────────────── Crown and pushers The crown is ribbed and features Chopard lettering. Above and below the crown are the polished chronograph pushers. These fit in form and finish with the round, polished case. ────────────────── Case back The watch has a transparent case back, allowing the automatic movement and rotor to be seen. The metal outer ring is secured with several screws. On the back are reference/case markings, among others. The polished back shows various light signs of wear and fine scratches. ────────────────── Stainless steel bracelet The watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet with broad center links. The finish combines brushed surfaces with polished accents. The clasp bears the Chopard emblem. The bracelet shows normal signs of wear and fine hairlines, mainly on the clasp and the larger flat surfaces of the links. The current sizing is suitable for a wrist circumference of approximately 19–20 cm. ────────────────── Condition Case: neat used condition with light hairlines and signs of wear Dial: very neat condition Glass: neat condition with no notable damage Crown and pushers: neat used condition Back: signs of wear and fine scratches present Stainless steel bracelet: light to normal signs of wear Clasp: light signs of wear Movement: runs and has been measured on a timegrapher ────────────────── Overall condition A neat Chopard Mille Miglia 8331 in the classic 38.5 mm variant. The black dial with large Arabic numerals, contrasting subdials, tachymeter scale and red Mille Miglia details give the watch a recognizable rally-inspired look. The watch shows light to normal signs of use appropriate for its age and wear. The dial is particularly clean and the stainless steel bracelet complements the sporty character of this version. The timegrapher indicated 0 seconds per day during the measurement, with an amplitude of 307° and a beat error of 0.1 ms.
