Ornamental partially gilded porcelain vase, body modelled with stylised foliage in low relief on white ground, curved handles in shape of acanthus leaves, body decorated in colours with the Melchior ships outside Kronborg Castle in cartouche, presumably by Andreas Juel, and on the reverse with "Moder Danmark" after Elisabeth Jerichau Baumann. Furthermore a shield-shaped emblem with the initials MGM for merchant and shipowner Moritz Gerson Melchior and the firm Moses & Søn G. Melchior's trademark, all surrounded by flowers and floral sprays, neck with blue cornflowers and cornears, presumably executed by L.C. Klein. The Royal Porcelain Factory 1860s. H. 52 cm.
