The company is known for having introduced electrolytic gilding and silvering in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the Chalhoub family luxury group. The House of Christofle relies on manufacturing carried out entirely by hand using traditional techniques. The precious arts of turning and repoussé, planing, chasing, and engraving, which are upheld by its Master Goldsmiths and Best Craftsmen of France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. It is this irreplaceable human know-how, sustained by highly skilled artisans passing from master to apprentice, that constitutes Christofle’s living heritage.
