Property from the Murphy Family Estate Collection, Savannah, GA Description: Christopher P.H. Murphy (Sav, 1869-1939), Boats on the Marsh, 3 Watercolors on Boards, comprising signed upper right corner watercolor with white boat (good condition, wear to corners, minor foxing), unsigned watercolor landscape with boats and line of trees on the background (pin holes to upper corners, foxing throughout), and unsigned double sided watercolor of boats (black staining that appears to be mold, in need of cleaning, wear to edges and corners, paper losses to edges, one corner splitting and delaminating at the edge, with some tape to lower edge); all unframed. Provenance: descended from the artist to the Christopher P.H. Murphy family collection. Christopher P. H. Murphy was a prominent Savannah artist in the 19th and 20th century. Though he had no formal artistic training his work was exhibited at the Fourth Annual Exhibition of American Art in New York, Art Institute of Chicago, Cincinnati Art Museum, Washington Watercolor Club, and Southern States Art League, among others.Measurements: Height: of signed watercolor 10 1/8 in. x Width: 15 in.
