Cigarette case - .875 (84 Zolotniki) silver - Silver cigarette case

Magnificent cigarette case made of 875 sterling silver, attributable to the Soviet Union, dating to the 1940s–1950s. The lid is decorated with a fine engraving of the famous Sochi Arboretum (Дендрарий), depicting its emblematic classical pavilion surrounded by subtropical vegetation and accompanied by the original Cyrillic inscription «Сочи – Дендрарий». This piece reflects the tradition of high-quality Soviet goldsmithing, whose production preserved many of the techniques, proportions, and artisanal standards developed by the silversmiths of Imperial Russia. The quality of workmanship, precision of engraving, and excellent execution make this cigarette case recall the finest works of pre-revolutionary Russian silverware. The interior retains its original gilding (vermeil), intended to protect the silver and better preserve its contents. It also retains the original inner elastic bands. Presents the corresponding Soviet contrasts, including the 875 silver assay stamp, the worker’s head emblem, a hallmark characteristic of mid-20th-century Soviet silverware, and the manufacturer’s mark.
