Chi - wara - Bambara - Bois - Mali - 49 cm. Elegant and ancient Chi-wara Bambara female from the Segou region of Mali. It features a hippotragine antelope carrying its calf on its back. This type of crest was worn during rites linked to Bambara agricultural festivals. Here one finds a refined and elongated stylization with a long neck, horns curved backward and meeting at the top. These horns are finely crenellated. The wood is hard, the patina is light. Good overall condition. Personal collection.
