Colette / Collectif - Œuvres de Colette - 1965

Superb edition represented here by volumes II and III, which bring together a substantial portion of Colette's literary output, one of the great figures of 20th century French literature, whose work is distinguished by attention to sensations, desire, nature, romantic relationships, memory, and the female condition - Colette's writing rests on an extremely keen observation of beings and things, transforming the most ordinary experiences into literary material through prose that is precise, sensuous, poetic, and intensely attentive to inner movements - Her universe is populated by independent female characters, couples torn by passion and jealousy, artists, show women, lovers, animals, and family figures, while gardens, houses, countryside, towns and landscapes often occupy a place comparable to that of human characters - Colette / Collective - Works of Colette - 1965 - Volume II and III - Flammarion - 874; 981 pages.
