Rare second edition of 1922 (complete) in one folio volume, 133 pages (uncut) - interior very fresh - pleasant copy. The work by Paul Durrieu, published in 1910 by the Paris publisher Ernest Leroux (later reissued in 1922). Importance: Before the 1904 fire at the National Library of Turin, which damaged part of the fragments (the famous Turin–Milan Hours), Count Durrieu had carried out meticulous analysis and collation work. Restoration: His work made it possible to propose an ideal textual restitution of the manuscript's primitive state before its dismemberment through the centuries. The Manuscript of the Très Belles Heures de Notre-Dame. Patron: commissioned around 1389 by John I, Duke of Berry (1340-1416), great patron and bibliophile. Artists: The illustrations were notably entrusted to the Master of the Parement of Narbonne and later to one of the Limbourg brothers. Dispersion: The manuscript was separated into several parts over time: the main body is kept at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (NAL 3093), while other fragments are in the Museo Civico in Turin or the Louvre Museum. About the 1922 work Author: Count Paul Durrieu (1855-1925), art historian and specialist in illuminated manuscripts. Edition: Published in Paris in 1922 for the members of the Société française de reproductions de manuscrits à peintures. Contents: It is a detailed study and a scientific description of an exceptional manuscript (then belonging to Baron Maurice de Rothschild), the famous Book of Hours commissioned by John, Duke of Berry. Format: One folio volume comprising about 130 pages of text and around thirty full-page plates reproducing the miniatures.
