Coran (juzʾ) - 2 feuillets simples recto-verso de Coran...

Ancient manuscript Quran – 2 simple recto-verso sheets – 4 handwritten pages Coming from a Quran on loose detached sheets. 17 cm × 12 cm. Probably 18th century second half, 19th century first half. Circa 1750–1850.. 2 simple sheets handwritten recto-verso, i.e., four handwritten pages, coming from the same old Arabic Quranic manuscript preserved as detached sheets. The set comes from a part of a Quran (juzʾ) and contains several identifiable surahs. Among the passages formally recognized on the sheets are notably the Surah al-Mulk (الملك, surah 67) as well as the final Surahs of the Quran, including al-Ikhlāṣ (الإخلاص, 112), al-Falaq (الفلق, 113) and al-Nās (الناس, 114). The Qur’anic text is copied in Arabic in a large regular and highly legible calligraphy in black ink, abundantly vocalized and punctuated with auxiliary signs. The titles and indications relating to the surahs are rubricated in red-orange ink, as are some reading and separation marks. The written surface is framed by a multicolored manuscript border with several thin margins, mainly red-orange and black, with occasionally a blue-green border. The surah changes are particularly decorative, their title, traditional classification, and number of verses may be inscribed in red before the basmala, بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Provenance of the sheet material This sheet comes from a set of handwritten sheets. The sheets were contained in a folder of the binder type after the sheets with an old catalog card in Arabic that documents their identification and chronological attribution. It bears notably: اسم الكتاب : جزء من القرآن الكريم Ism al-kitāb: Juzʾ min al-Qurʾān al-Karīm Book title: a part of the Noble Quran. The field reserved for the scribe’s name (اسم الكاتب) is not filled. The card then states: تاريخ الكتابة : القرن العاشر الهجري Tārīkh al-kitāba: al-qarn al-ʿāshir al-hijrī Date of copying: 10th century AH. 2 simple recto-verso sheets from an Arabic Qur’anic manuscript. Manuscript writing, black ink with red-orange rubrication. Partial description of the 2 sheets. First set, notably the end of Surah Al-Muṭaffifīn (83), with the passage concerning the believers and the deniers, Those who have committed crimes laughed at those who believed. When they passed by them, they would wink at them… But today, those who believed laugh at the disbelievers… Then the Basmala appears clearly, In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. It introduces Surah Al-Inshiqāq (84 – The Splitting Asunder) When the sky will split and it will obey its Lord as it should, and when the earth will be levelled… Second set: The continuation belongs to Al-Inshiqāq (84), O man! You strive toward your Lord and you will meet Him. He who receives his book in his right hand will be judged with ease and return joyfully to his people. As for he who receives his book behind his back, he will call for destruction and burn in a fierce fire… I swear by the twilight, by the night and what it envelops, and by the moon when it is full: you will surely move from one state to another. Why do they not believe and, when the Quran is recited to them, not prostrate themselves? 2 simple recto-verso sheets, 4 handwritten pages, 17 cm × 12 cm per simple sheet.
