Her expression is one of pure carefree joy: eyes squinted, broad smile, body suspended in a moment of complete freedom. The painting captures the exact moment when the water becomes both shield and reveal: it deforms shapes, disperses light into warm oranges and cool blues, and transforms a simple dip into something luminous and almost weightless. The brushwork is lively and direct, allowing the movement of the water and the warmth of the skin to coexist on the same vibrant surface. This work is part of Cristian Mesa Velázquez's ongoing exploration of the human body in water, a recurring theme in which immersion becomes a metaphor for emotional release, memory, and pure presence. About the artist Cristian Mesa Velázquez (born 1994 in Havana, raised and trained in Las Tunas, Cuba) lives and works in Valencia, Spain. He trained at the Professional Academy of Plastic Arts of Las Tunas (graduated in 2013). His work has been shown in group exhibitions and international art fairs in Cuba, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the United States. In October 2026 his work was included in a group exhibition of the Realist Society of Houston (Jack Meier Gallery, Houston, USA), and one of his paintings became part of the gallery’s permanent collection. Another piece was sold successfully at the Art of Poland (OneBid, Warsaw) auction. His paintings are held in private collections in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
