Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront dummies, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection. The Crypto series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of photos of the artist or the theme. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the subject’s artistic universe. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is undertaken on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner. Edition & Production Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting system. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary look. Background Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
