David Law Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he expands this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection. New series – Walls of legends This series pays homage to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to the essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an instantly recognizable identity. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil-like aesthetic, the works belong to the tradition of street art, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. The deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while the imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination. Edition & Fabrication Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered specimens + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminium with an integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminium panels, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great color stability over time, and a modern, contemporary rendering. Parcours Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
