Decimus Iunius - D

Rare Latin edition intended to convey two of the principal voices of Roman satire, in an erudite context where establishing the text, correcting the readings, and comparing manuscripts occupy an essential place - The work first gathers the sixteen satires traditionally attributed to Juvenal, the Latin poet of the late 1st and early 2nd century AD, whose oeuvre constitutes one of the sharpest critiques of imperial Roman society - Across his texts, Juvenal observes the behaviors, ambitions, and vices of the society of his time with irony often biting, denouncing the corruption of morals, the unbridled pursuit of money, the taste for luxury, abuses of power, flattery, marriages of convenience, social rivalries, debauchery, intellectual pretensions, and the inequalities between the different strata of the population - Decimus Iunius - D.
