DENMARK. 3 Krone, 1726. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik IV. PCGS MS-61.

Extraordinary Mint State "Breddaler" from a Mintage of 86 Pieces DENMARK. 3 Krone, 1726. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik IV. PCGS MS-61. Dav-1293; KM-525; Dav-1293; Hede-41; Sieg-22; Schou-2. Weight: 67.66 gms. Edge: Oblique milling. Mintmaster: Christian Wineke. Engraver: Peter Berg. An EXTREMELY RARE original striking of this large-sized "Breddaler" (Broad Daler) issue, hailing from a reported mintage of a mere 86 pieces. The present piece is the only example of the type certified in Mint State by either PCGS or NGC, and with such a paltry mintage and so few surviving companions, it may very well retain this title indefinitely. As such, this offering presents a unique opportunity for collectors of Danish RARITIES, as perhaps the most impressive and attractive specimen available of the largest silver coin issued under the reign of Frederik IV. The fine relief of the king's portrait is struck up to intricate detail, with soft satiny luster gracing the fields beneath a layer of deep, hearty patina, and there is an admirable lack of surface marks or detractions throughout. Estimate: €20,000 - €30,000. Provenance: Ex: Karsten Kold Collection (Copenhagen - 2022) Lot # 89. Ex: Jens Dahl Knudsen Collection (Copenhagen - 2005) Lot # 1247. Ex: Adler Petersen Collection (Copenhagen - 1996) Lot # 454. “NOTICE TO EU BUYERS: This lot is temporarily imported into Denmark and, following the auction, must be returned to the United States to close the temporary import. If purchased by an EU buyer, the lot may subsequently be shipped from our California office to Europe; all applicable import VAT, Margin Scheme “brugtmoms”, duties, customs charges, and related fees will be the responsibility of the buyer.” Click here for certification details from PCGS.
