A rather unassuming note that still represents an important transition in the issuance of bank notes in Denmark. In August of 1818, the National Bank of Denmark, the Nationalbanken, was established, which took over the note-issuing privileges of the earlier Rigsbanken. The example offered in the present lot is from the very first issue of the bank, authorized in July of 1819. This example, which is in heavily used condition but with most of the printed elements still visible, is one of just four notes of this type present in the PMG population report at the time of cataloging.
