A marvelous and very rare medal with a rather unconventional reverse, showing not only the royal couple but also the king's sister, Charlotte Amalie, their busts arranged in a triquetra. As-struck, the obverse with dark golden toning accentuating the devices, the reverse more mottled. On the obverse, the king is wearing the chain of the Order of Dannebrog as well as the Order of the Elephant, while the queen is wearing the Order of L'union Parfait, the first Danish order bestowed on women. Please note that while the NGC holder says 'Dated', it is not. Estimate: €1,200 - €1,500. Provenance: From the L.E. Bruun Collection. To view supplemental information and all items from the L.E.
