Droog Design - Richard Hutten - Teapot - ''Handle with care'' - Porcelain

This ''Handle With Care'' teapot is a playful yet thoughtful reinterpretation of a classic Chinese teapot. Dutch designer Richard Hutten takes the traditional form, historically cast iron, and transforms it into a sleek, modern object made from fine white porcelain. Rather than using a conventional teapot handle, Hutten borrows the ergonomic grip of an old-fashioned clothes iron, rendered in a bold bright red that contrasts vividly with the smooth porcelain body. This unexpected handle not only adds a touch of humor and surprise but also serves a functional purpose: its shape and color cue the user to “handle with care”, helping you safely lift and pour hot tea. The teapot’s proportions are generous yet compact, with dimensions around 21.5 × 20.4 × 13 cm and a lightweight presence that belies its porcelain construction. Its rounded, slightly flattened body subtly echoes the silhouette of a curling stone, while the short spout and striking red handle make it both a practical vessel and a sculptural accent in any kitchen or tea ritual. This ''Handle With Care'' teapot is in new and unused condition. Delivered with original packaging. Capacity: 0,5L Richard Hutten is one of the Netherlands’ most renowned designers, alongside Studio Job, Marcel Wanders, Kiki van Eijk, Irma Boom, Sabine Marcelis, Hella Jongerius, Bertjan Pot, Maarten Baas, Rem Koolhaas and Wiel Arets. At just 39 years old, the Dutch designer had already built an exceptional international reputation, distinguished by his conceptual clarity and innovative approach to contemporary design. His work has attracted an impressive and diverse clientele across the worlds of design, architecture and culture. His client list includes Gispen, Droog, Moooi, Muij, Offecct, Christofle, Artifort, Kvadrat, Moroso, Rabobank, I+I Milano, DSM and Skultuna, as well as esteemed institutions and collaborators such as Gemeentemuseum The Hague, OMA, Rem Koolhaas, MVRDV, Centraal Museum Utrecht, Karl Lagerveld and HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands. This piece may be of particular interest to collectors of design by Sottsass, Eames, Newson, Le Corbusier, Prouvé and Colombo.
