Female in Blue Oil on canvas. No frame. An interesting work of contemporary neo-expressionist figuration, executed in oil on canvas, in which the female figure becomes a vehicle for a painting markedly emotional, built through color, formal simplification, and a deliberately unbalanced composition. The work depicts a woman lying down, dressed in blue, who rests her head on one arm while directing her gaze toward the viewer. The posture conveys a sense of introspection and stillness, reinforced by a serious and contained expression. One of the most striking aspects of the painting is its powerful chromatic treatment. The artist deliberately abandons naturalistic color: the face and legs are built with intense reds, oranges, and dark shadows, while the dress unfolds through a wide range of blues, turquoises, and purples. This opposition between warm and cool colors gives the composition considerable visual strength. The facture is free and expressive, with clearly perceptible brushstrokes and a figure built more from large color masses than from academic drawing. The face appears synthesized through strong contrasts of light and shadow, deliberately moving away from conventional representation to enhance its psychological content. Particularly interesting is the composition. The figure concentrates mainly on the left half of the canvas, while a broad pale surface remains practically empty on the right. This device creates visual tension and emphasizes the protagonist’s sense of isolation. The horizontal orientation of the support and the reclining figure is balanced by the dark verticals situated on the far left. Stylistically, the work can be related to figurative neo-expressionism and the currents of renewal of figurative painting developed during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The conscious deformation of the anatomy, the chromatic intensity, the simplification of space, and the predominance of expression over naturalistic representation are elements characteristic of this trend. A painting of notable decorative presence, in which the deep blue of the dress and the intense reds of the figure contrast with the broad light background, producing a contemporary, direct image with considerable visual impact. The work is presented unframed, as shown in the photographs. The condition of preservation should be assessed from the provided images, which form an integral part of the description.
