Edmond De Meulenaere (1884-1963) - Ukkel

Fascinating oil painting on panel, capturing a suggestive historical view of Uccle (Brussels, Belgium), with the imposing tall spire of a cathedral dominating the background. The work stands out for an exceptionally rich and tactile painting technique, typical of the Belgian post-Impressionist school. The thick, vigorous brushstrokes laid on in impasto give a strong three-dimensional relief and great dynamism to the scene, making the light shimmer on the roofs and along the town street. The painting is signed at the lower left
