An extraordinary and highly exclusive Egermann museum-quality vase, created as a unique one-off piece – 1/1. With its monumental dimensions, exceptional craftsmanship and lavish decoration, this vase belongs to an entirely different category from ordinary decorative glass. It was created as a true statement object – a piece suitable for a prestigious private collection, representative interior, gallery or museum setting. Dimensions and specifications Height: 90 cm Maximum width: 40 cm Base diameter: 30 cm Weight: 14 kg Production: unique piece, only 1 made Condition: excellent At 90 cm high, 40 cm wide and weighing 14 kg, this vase has a monumental presence and immediately dominates any interior in which it is displayed. The vase is decorated using the famous Egermann red glaze, combined with elaborate hand painting, engraving and extensive 24-carat gold decoration. Its surface is richly covered with intricate floral and ornamental motifs. The combination of deep red tones, fine engraved details, painted decoration and generous gilding gives the vase an exceptionally luxurious, elegant and aristocratic appearance. The craftsmanship is extremely elaborate. This is not a simple decorative object, but a highly demanding piece of decorative glass art in which several traditional techniques are combined on an unusually large scale. The vase is preserved in excellent condition. Considering its exceptional dimensions, weight, delicate surface decoration and extensive gilding, its condition is particularly impressive. It displays beautifully and retains the rich visual impact expected from an important collector’s piece. Egermann – a legendary name in Czech decorative glass The name Egermann is inseparably connected with the history of luxury Czech glass. The Egermann tradition became famous for highly sophisticated glass decoration, particularly coloured surface treatments, hand painting, engraving and gilding. Egermann glass is instantly recognisable for its rich ornamentation, strong colour contrasts and elaborate decorative techniques. One of the most iconic elements associated with the name is the celebrated red Egermann glaze, which became an important part of the visual identity of this type of Czech decorative glass. Combined with engraving and gold decoration, this red finish produces a particularly deep and luxurious effect, giving the glass an appearance that is both highly decorative and unmistakably prestigious. Pieces of this quality were never intended to be ordinary household objects. They were created as representative works of art, designed to demonstrate the skill of Czech glassmakers, engravers, painters and decorators. Nový Bor – the heart of Czech glassmaking This vase also belongs to the extraordinary glassmaking tradition of Nový Bor and Northern Bohemia, one of the most important historic centres of glass production in Europe. For generations, the Nový Bor region has been synonymous with outstanding craftsmanship and exceptional decorative skill. The area became internationally famous thanks to generations of glassmakers, cutters, engravers, painters and gilders whose expertise was passed down from master to apprentice. Czech glass from this region earned a worldwide reputation not only because of the quality of the glass itself, but above all because of the extraordinary range of decorative techniques used in its finishing. Engraving, painting, gilding, cutting and complex surface decoration transformed individual objects into highly sophisticated works of decorative art. This tradition helped establish Bohemian glass as one of the most respected names in European decorative arts. Nový Bor became a centre where technical knowledge, artistic design and specialised hand craftsmanship came together. This combination made the region famous throughout Europe and far beyond. A unique 1/1 museum piece This vase is especially significant because it was produced as a single unique example – 1/1. There is no second identical piece. Its dimensions are exceptional even by the standards of luxury decorative glass. Producing an object of this scale required specialised technical facilities and a furnace capable of handling such a large and demanding piece. According to the information associated with this vase, Egermann possessed the specialised production equipment required for objects of this size. Today, a comparable vase can no longer be produced in the same way, because the specialised furnace and production infrastructure once available at Egermann are no longer available. This gives the vase an additional historical and technical importance. It is not merely rare because only one example was made. It is also effectively unrepeatable. Exceptional decorative techniques The vase brings together several of the most prestigious decorative techniques associated with luxury Czech glass: Egermann red glaze Extensive hand painting Detailed hand engraving Rich 24-carat gold decoration Monumental dimensions Unique 1/1 production Each of these techniques requires a high level of craftsmanship. Combining all of them on a vase measuring 90 cm in height makes this piece especially impressive. The large decorated surface allows the ornamental composition to unfold almost like a painting. The eye can move across numerous layers of floral decoration, engraving, gold detailing and rich red glazing. The result is a work that changes character depending on the light and viewing angle. Estimated value The estimated value of this vase is €22,000. Its value reflects the combination of its monumental scale, unique 1/1 production, demanding decorative techniques, 24K gilding, provenance within the Egermann tradition and the fact that a comparable piece can no longer be produced today using the same specialised production facilities. This is a spectacular and virtually unrepeatable collector’s object for a serious collection of: Egermann glass, Bohemian glass, Czech decorative arts, luxury European glass or museum-quality decorative objects. A true museum-quality masterpiece and an impressive testament to the extraordinary glassmaking tradition of Nový Bor and Northern Bohemia.
