Elegant and Graceful

Elegant and sinuous, this splendid shell of Ficus gracilis stands out for its lightness and the delicate transparency that characterize the genus. The specimen, collected in the waters of the Philippines, shows a regular pattern of honey-colored bands and reticulations on a light background, with the surface finely ribbed which enhances its delicacy. The elongated shape, with a low-spired spire and an extended siphonal canal, gives the shell a harmonious and slender line. The aperture is wide and well-proportioned, with a smooth interior in warm amber-brown tones. Considered a fascinating species for collectors, Ficus gracilis combines a lightweight yet sturdy shell, recalling the elegance of a finely woven fabric. An specimen of 136 mm, well preserved and of excellent quality, ideal to enrich a malacological collection with an example from the Ficidae family. Ficus Gracilis Sowerby G. B. I, 1825 Palawan, Philippines – 136 mm
