Elegant Art Deco Bar Brooch With Diamonds in Gold & Platinum, Circa 1925

Brooches, brooches, pins - these are all names for a form of jewellery that enjoyed great popularity in the first decades of the 20th century. They were worn in many different ways and were particularly creative in the Art Deco period. The German fashion journal "Die Dame", for example, stated in its fashion notes of 1925 that people now wore "rather voluminous pins, which always look best at the front of the waist as a clasp or at the end of an insert." This brooch is of medium size and therefore particularly versatile. Its front is plated with platinum so that it shines white in keeping with the fashion of the time. The precious metal is interspersed with arabesque shadow gaps, which ornamentally structure the surface of the brooch and give it the appearance of lace. A row of three old European cut diamonds with a total weight of around 1.00 ct is set in frames as the focal point in the center. 22 diamond roses add an additional sparkle to the surface. This piece of jewellery is a typical example of an Art Deco jewel. Since its creation, it has survived as if not a day has passed. The elegant and richly decorated brooch came to us from Hesse.
