Elegant Art Déco Ring with Large Old Cut Diamond, c. 1925

This ring is a typical piece of jewellery from the 1920s: cool, white and crystalline. Fine pierced ornament runs through the elongated oval ring face and adds effective shadow effects to the sparkle of the diamonds. A narrow, elegant ring band joins the ethereal design at the side. At its center, the ring holds a special treasure: a large, wonderfully brilliant, fiery cushion-cut diamond. The gemstone weighs around 1.07 ct and has a slightly yellowish hue, similar to that of lemon glaze. It is set slightly higher in order to increase its brilliance through the incidence of light. Although the diamond was also cut in ancient times, it was probably only added to the ring at a later date. Judging by its hallmark, the ring was most likely created in Germany; its design also fits in with the taste of the Weimar Republic. We discovered this wonderful ring here in Berlin.
