Elegant bracelet with rubies & diamonds in silver & gold, c. 1900

This bracelet has no beginning and no end. A total of 18 identically designed elements in silver on gold are richly set with diamonds and rubies. They consist of circular frames that widen inwards into leaf shapes. Their center is alternately set with either a ruby or a larger diamond. Smaller diamonds set the connections between the elements, the arcs of the elements and the leaf shapes themselves. To perfect the illusion of the infinite row, the goldsmith has integrated the clasp in such a way that, when worn, the band appears to have no beginning and no end: it shines and glows as an infinite row of light. Bracelets made of uniform elements came into fashion at the end of the 19th century, after bangle bracelets had previously been worn. However, the shapes became softer and more flowing towards the end of the century and the bracelet gained new friends. However, while the designs initially continued to emphasize the middle of the bracelet, just like the bracelets of previous generations, the preference changed around 1900 and more and more uniform, seemingly infinite bracelets were created, which from today's perspective look surprisingly modern and, last but not least, are easy and comfortable to wear. We discovered the bracelet in Stuttgart. It probably originated in Europe, perhaps in southern Europe, as we suspect due to the unusual fineness of 700/000 in Germany.
