Alle Auktionen / Zeitgenössische Kunst / Elio - Dissolution of the Self
Dissolution of the Self A figure emerges from shadow, its profile dissolving into cascading fragments of paint that obscure identity itself. Broad, assertive strokes of white and pale blue slice across the face like geological strata, while dark passages of black anchor the silhouette to something almost recognisable. Flesh tones - ochre, rose, cream - surface briefly between interruptions, suggesting a portrait fighting to exist. The brushwork is raw, deliberate, simultaneously constructing and erasing. Something watches from beneath the layered chaos. -- Media: Professional acrylic on fine canvas -- Style: Dynamic layered brushwork and textured abstraction -- Dimensions: 120 x 80 x 2.5 cm -- Signature: Signed on reverse by the artist -- Condition: Pristine; dispatched from studio-affiliated workshop -- Support: Stretched on professional wood frame (Ready to hang) -- COA: Hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity included -- Logistics: Reinforced protective packaging; Catawiki Smart Shipping (Fully insured/Tracked) EU SHIPPING ONLY - orders from non-EU countries will be cancelled! Background and room setting created with AI / photo editing for illustration purposes only. The painting is an original artwork hand-painted by the artist. About the artist: Elio Elio is a Milan-based contemporary artist whose work resides in the magnetic space between structural power and the unspoken. Immersed in the sharp, design-forward energy of Milan, his aesthetic is defined by a "tectonic" approach to the canvas-where form is not merely drawn, but constructed through the purposeful, directional energy of the brush. For Elio, the canvas is a collision of time. Every painting tells a story that refuses to be anchored to a single moment; his work acts as a bridge between the fragments of the past and the vivid imagination of the future. His process is one of deliberate layering and rhythmic movement. Rather than relying on static weight, he uses his brush to carve out paths of light and shadow, creating a surface that feels both ancient and visionary. These visible strokes function as the "chapters" of a hidden narrative-one that is simultaneously being remembered and envisioned. This sense of the enigmatic is Elio's signature. He does not offer a finished answer, but rather a secret to be unraveled. His figures and landscapes are often obscured by bold, rhythmic brushwork, inviting the eye to bridge the gap between the seen and the felt. It is a visual poetry of the "in-between," where the physical texture of the paint creates a veil over a narrative that is both classic and prophetic. Through a palette that moves from grounded, historic shadows to sudden, electric pulses of light, Elio crafts a modern mythology. His works are visceral, atmospheric environments that demand a lingering gaze-open-ended stories where the strength of the brush is matched only by the deep, compelling pull of the unknown.
