Emaille straatnaambord ‘Elisabethstraße’ – diepblauw met...

Enamel street sign ‘Elisabethstraße’ – deep blue with white letters and a well-worn character A street name with presence! This elongated enamel sign immediately catches the eye with its deep blue background, large white letters, and decorative surrounding frame. The inscription ‘Elisabethstraße’, with the characteristic German ß, gives the sign a distinctly German-speaking character. The tall, bold lettering forms a beautiful contrast with the glossy blue surface. The light frame curves inward at the corners, completing the composition. Four mounting holes, one at each corner, fit the sign’s original function as a street name plate. Enamel is created by firing a glass-like layer onto metal at high temperature. This technique was widely used for street name signs because of the protective coating and bright colors. The exact place where this piece hung, the manufacturer, and the production date have not been determined. The visible wear, rust, and enamel losses give the sign a striking, lived-in look. An attractive eye-catcher for lovers of enamel, old street signs, and typography. Beautiful against a brick wall, in an industrial interior, or as a complement to a collection of historical signage. Features * Elongated, rectangular enamel street sign * Inscription: ‘Elisabethstraße’ * Deep blue background with large white letters * Lightly rounded frame with inward-bent corners * Metal carrier with enamel finish * Four mounting holes at the corners * German-language street name.. Condition Worn, used condition with clear signs of use and age. The surface shows scratches, abrasion marks, dull spots, and localized discolorations. In the light lettering and the frame there are fine lines and minor surface irregularities. Along the edges, at the corners, and around the mounting holes the enamel layer is locally missing. The underlying metal is visible there, with obvious rusting. Especially on the right side there are larger areas with enamel loss and corrosion. The surrounding frame shows yellow-brown discolorations. The inscription remains clearly readable.
