Audibert's pieces are heavily influenced by his surroundings and the Mediterranean landscape, which he often presents in his paintings in an abstracted and stylized manner. His works are characterized by a luminous color palette and a strong, rhythmic composition that reflect a deep connection to nature and the culture of the Mediterranean region. Audibert's style is marked by a bold, expressive brushwork reminiscent of the Fauves, particularly artists like Henri Matisse and André Derain. This movement valued the use of pure, intense colors and rejected naturalistic depictions in favor of an emotional and subjective color choice. Audibert follows this tradition by portraying the landscape and nature in vibrant colors that often reflect the energy and vitality of the Mediterranean world. In his landscapes and abstract works, Audibert frequently draws on geometric forms and flat compositions, reminiscent of Nicolas de Staël, a artist who also dissolved the Mediterranean landscape into abstract color fields. However, Audibert's works possess their own powerful dynamics, created by the way he combines color and texture to amplify the intensity and depth of his motifs. In addition to landscapes, figure depictions also play a role in Audibert's work. These figures are often highly stylized and reduced to essential shapes, giving them a timeless and universal quality. This reduction to essentials echoes the works of Amedeo Modigliani, whose portraits likewise achieve strong emotional impact through clear lines and simplified forms. Audibert's works are shown in various international galleries and exhibitions, and his paintings have garnered a broad collecting community. His art, which captures the beauty and energy of the Mediterranean landscape, remains a homage to nature and the vivid colors so prominent in this region. In summary, Ernest Audibert is an artist who impresses with his vividly colored, expressive depictions of the Mediterranean world. His works sit in the tradition of the Fauves and Abstract Expressionism, and his unique fusion of color, form, and composition gives his paintings a notable intensity and depth.
