The composition blends the naturalist observation of the landscape with an atmospheric lighting of pre-Romantic and Impressionist sensibility. Rural landscape featuring a large, leafy tree at the center of the composition, surrounded by abundant vegetation. In the lower area, two small figures strolling along a path provide scale and a narrative element to the scene. The hills, background trees, and sky in grayish, pinkish, and ochre tones create a serene atmosphere, typical of a summer afternoon. The brushwork is loose and expressive, especially in the treatment of the foliage and the ground. Deep greens, browns, and ochres predominate, contrasted by the warm reflections of the sky and of certain illuminated areas of the landscape. The work is presented with a gilded wooden frame, wide profile and molded. It shows patina, wear, small losses, and signs of aging in keep with its antiquity.
