ETRO Milano – large plaid / maxi double-faced scarf vintage, dating to the second half of the 1980s, circa 1987–1989. Elegant and distinctive ETRO creation characterized by a double-face construction in two different fabrics: one side in 100% silk, decorated with the maison's famous Paisley pattern in shades of burgundy, red, brown, ochre and light blue, and a side in 100% black wool. The contrast between the luminous surface of the printed silk and the matte softness of the wool gives the piece a particularly rich appearance and allows it to be worn showing either side. The edge is finished with black fringes. Body of the fabric measures about 160 × 140 cm, excluding fringes. Fringes: about 8–10 cm. The original ETRO MILANO label with the Pegasus is present, in addition to the labels relating to the composition of the two fabrics. The piece comes from a personal purchase of the era and is datable, based on provenance, to about 1987–1989. Never used. It has been stored for almost forty years in the original ETRO packaging, also present. The condition is therefore exceptional for the piece's age. Because of its dimensions it can be considered both a plaid/throw and a maxi scarf, a category in which the large Paisley fabrics from ETRO of the era can be classified. A refined example of ETRO's textile production from the second half of the 1980s, particularly interesting for the double-face construction in pure silk and pure wool, the large format, and the exceptional state of conservation.
