This ring from the Art Deco period tells a story of loving togetherness. It came to us from a distinguished Hamburg household and belongs to that genre of pieces of jewellery that are more than mere decoration. It is a "toi-et-moi" ring, a "you-and-me" design whose shape symbolizes the connection between two people. Two large diamonds face each other like lovers, equal and yet united in delicate tension, linked by the promise that this ring may have once sealed. Both stones are cut in the round old cut, the so-called Old European Cut, whose typical soft light is a special feature of many jewels from the 1920s. Together, the two diamonds weigh around 2.30 carats and impress with their exceptional qualities. Their sparkle is exceptional white (E) and the clarity of both stones is equally remarkable (vsi). Their fire is crystalline, pure and of a clarity that never lets go of your gaze. The ring is all white and decorated with fine, expressive tendril shapes, its shape like a small, wearable sculpture. The design is still very clearly inspired by the Expressionism of the 1910s, but at the same time already has the cool austerity of Art Deco. The central diamonds are accompanied by twelve smaller single cut diamonds that adorn the curved, slightly openwork ring face. Each individual stone is precisely set and blends into the exciting foliage of the design. Everything about this piece of jewellery is symmetrical, a reflection of the balance it seeks to express. This ring combines the clarity of Art Deco with the symbolism of a grand gesture. Two stones, two people, one promise - captured in a shared sparkle.
