Faun with Flute and Dancer with Maraca and Tambourine Pablo Picasso

• An extremely rare etching with no regular print run • One of only 9 proof copies of this Impression documented by Baer • A depiction from Picasso’s post-war mythological imagery After the end of the Second World War, Picasso increasingly turned his attention to figures from ancient mythology. The faun, in particular, became a recurring motif in his works created in Antibes and Golfe-Juan in the south of France. In this etching, Picasso combines the flute-playing faun with a dancer to create a cheerful scene characterised by music and movement. The work was created in September 1945 in Antibes and was not published as part of a regular edition. The few surviving trial proofs make this print a particular rarity within his body of print work. | 1881 Málaga - Mougins bei Cannes 1973 | Moderne Kunst | Druckgrafik | Nummer: 26x2399 | Provenance: Privatbesitz, USA.
