Fetish figure - FON - Benin - Voodoo altar fetish

Voodoo Altar Fetish - FON (Togo) Height 18.5 cm Beautiful patina with libations, magical charges, and beads. Voodoo has incorporated Catholic rites and notions, making it acceptable. Thus was born the “Christian voodoo.” In the 1950s, the Vatican made peace with the voodoo cult. Voodoo is the cultural foundation of the Adja peoples (including the Fons, the Gouns, the Ewe … and to a certain extent the Yoruba…)—peoples who constitute an important part of the populations south of the Benin Gulf states (Benin, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria…).
