Resin statuette "Betelgeuse, Kim & the Ium", by Léo, based on the series The Worlds of Aldebaran Figures & You FVO01 (2012) Very limited edition of 266 copies - no. 41 Original box and certificate of authenticity Height: 22 cm Mint condition Protected and insured shipping, to a collection point Figures & You pays tribute to the saga of the "Worlds of Aldebaran", one of the most fantastic human epics ever written, one of the most beautiful comic book series. Visionary and humanist, its author Léo tells the early human efforts, during the 21st and 22nd centuries, to colonize distant planets. Constrained by pollution, climate change and religious wars, humanity, taking advantage of technological progress, sets off to ensure its survival, in search of habitable planets. The Iums, powerful creatures, bear-sized, with black and white fur, clean-shaven and gleaming, possess great intelligence and exceptional agility, they have no mouth, neither speak nor feed, and they draw their energy from an organic ventral stack. In the fourth volume of the cycle "The Caverns", the Iums, superb aviators, will come to save Kim Keller, the saga’s heroine, and her friends. A mysterious bond unites Kim and the Iums. This bond is the Mantrisse, a superior creature around which the "Worlds of Aldebaran" revolve. The Iums, carrying Kim and Mai Lan on their backs, will show them the mystery of the cavern that provides energy to their ventral stack. This discovery will lead to others and change Kim’s perspective. It is Kim’s journey toward the cavern carried by an Ium that we chose to represent in 3D. Through Gilles Oderigo’s sculpture, this pose symbolizes the rapport between these magnificent creatures and the humans who deserve it, but beyond that, it embodies the spirit of the entire series. Resin statuette, hand-painted. Leo/Dargaud-2012
